Experience the Frisian countryside

Oudega (SWF)

The water sports village of Oudega (SWF) has around 700 inhabitants, is located on the banks of the Oudegaaster Brekken and is surrounded by many pools and lakes. For water sports enthusiasts, Oudega is a true ‘eldorado’ in which to spend their holidays.

From the Oudegaaster Brekken, you can sail straight to the heart of the village. There, in the cosy village harbour, at the foot of the characteristic church tower, you will find all the amenities the village has to offer within easy reach. The village has a supermarket, a hairdresser and restaurants. You can read much more about this beautiful village on the Waterland van Friesland website.

Experience the Frisian landscape

Bike- & walking routes

In the direct surroundings of the campsite you will find beautiful bike and walking routes. An increasing number of cyclists discover Camping De Bearshoeke as a home base for extensive bike tours. There are beautiful bike paths laid out to, for example, the historic towns of IJlst and Workum, and you can easily follow the ANWB bike junctions.

Cyclists also get their hearts racing in the nature around the Frisian lakes. For example, take a walk or a camino along the Odulphuspad. The route "Lux Aeterna" (eternal light) is named after the beautiful light effect of the Oudegaaster Brekken and runs along our campsite.

Whispering recreation

Sup- & (electric)sailboat experience

While the Heegermeer is lively and bustling in the summer, inviting you to enjoy long sailing sessions and pause on één of the islands, the pool area above it usually offers a haven of peace even in the peak season. Rent a SUP or electric sailboat from Watersportbedrijf De Werff to explore the sailing routes around Oudega, Gaastmeer and Heeg. You'll discover the most beautiful views and sail relaxedly over the various waterways and canals to charming villages in the area. There, you can easily step off for a lunch or drink on a sunny terrace.
